Coplanarity by Means of Floating Pins

Increasing demands on small space requirements and high precision for PCB related components are resulting from the miniaturization progress. W+P PRODUCTS presents appropriately four new series of SMT connectors with floating pin contacts in a pitch of 2,54 mm.

Floating Pin Adapter Headers

Firstly, the construction of the floating pin connectors allows a higher packing density on the PCB board. Additional space can be reached by using floating pin connectors without solder pins. The contact to the conducting path is achieved by swimming round contacts below the insulator.

Secondly, the swimming contacts ensure a high coplanarity, since they are matching with every PCB board surface, even it is not flat. This is resulting in accurate and secure connections. Furthermore, precise contacts are used for the floating pin technology.

W+P PRODUCTS offers single and double row pin headers (series 3232, 3233), female headers (series 3231) as well as IC-sockets (series 3230). The connectors are available in single and double row from 2 up to 100 pins. The insulators is made of thermoplastic according to UL94 V-0.

The pin headers contact material consist of screw mashined precision pins made of brass, with gold or tin plated surfaces. The contact material of the female headers is also brass, the contacts consist of srew mashined sleeves with 6-Finger-Clips made of beryllium-copper.
